The ongoing governorship elections in Lagos have witnessed pockets of violence, with many residents staying away as a result.

Consequently, this resulted in low turnout especially in areas that are the strongholds of the Labour Party.

She revealed that she couldn’t even bring out her phone to update fans when she got to her polling unit as some thugs attacked her with knives and bottles.

“They destroyed by side mirrors. I don’t know the extent of the damage to the car but I had to run for my life. They wanted to stab me; thank God I came with some people. What happened to the free and fair elections they promised us?” Akpotha lamented.

In another viral video, residents were seen repelling a thug who was beaten to a pulp after he tried to intimidate the voters.

This was posted via the Twitter handle of Dr Peng King who noted that the incident happened at the Okota Area in Lagos State.

Okota is traditionally dominated by the Igbos and there have been reports of thuggery against the residents, many of whom voted for the Labour Party during the presidential election.
