Senator Peter Nwaoboshi convicted for money laundering

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, representing Delta North Senatorial district has been convicted by a Federal High Court, ENigeria Newspaper reports.
Following an appeal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi was found guilty.
The anti-graft agency had appealed the June 2021 ruling of Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
The 64-year-old Mr. Nwaoboshi was cleared by the judge of the EFCC’s allegations of money laundering involving around N322 million, which led to the appeal.

ENigeria Newspaper reports that the EFCC alleged that N322 million of the money formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful act, claiming the fund was transferred to vendors by order of Suiming Electrical Ltd.
