Nigeria’s mega watts drop?

Nigeria’s mega watts dropping? |

Nigerians during the campaigns for the general elections were particularly thrilled when the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari flagged off his campaign by enumerating his achievements which included electricity mega watts being above 7,000.

Everybody hungered for the translation of this claim into regular supply of electricity, but no, things got worse, especially under Ikeja Electric, IE, distribution company, Disco.

However, you believe words based on who has spoken them. There is one thing you cannot take away from Mr. President, and that is integrity.

Reinforcing the Federal Government’s claim of generating above 7,-000 mega watts was the presence of another man of integrity, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

Prof. Osinbajo is a humble intellectual and a pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG. So the claim of both the President and the Vice on above 7,000 mega watts still stands believable, reliable.

Nobody can tell exactly what happened in Ikeja, where Ikeja Electric declined in its electricity supply to the extent that it got to the lowest point last week, and IE revealed to consumers that they did not have enough mega watts to supply to consumers.

The text of apology to consumers reads: ”Dear Customer, The current supply interruption in your vicinity is as a result of low power allocation from Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.

“TCN is currently working to ensure power supply is restored to your vicinity. Thank you for your patience.”

The problem may not really be with the generation. May be, the generated capacity still stands above 7,000 mega watts.

It is very possible because sometimes TCN might have enough power to transmit to Discos, but they may not have adequate and functioning transformers to supply power to consumers.

Consumers spoken to about this sad development, said they still believe that the problem might really be with the IE Disco, not TCN, and never Generation Company!
