The letter, titled ‘Withdrawal of Ministerial Approval of Emirates Airlines Winter Schedule’ and bearing the reference NCAA/DG/AIR/11/16/329, advised the airline to follow the new direction.

“I would like to advise you of the withdrawal of the approval granted to Emirates Airlines Winter Schedule,” it said in part. This approval came in the form of a letter dated December 1, 2021, with the reference number FMA/ATMD/501/C.104/XV/536.

“This withdrawal will take effect at 2300 hours on Sunday, December 12, 2021. Please be advised that Emirates Airlines has been given permission to operate only one weekly passenger frequency to Abuja on Thursdays going forward.

“Please follow my instructions. Please accept my heartfelt greetings and best wishes.”

The letter was also copied to Hadi Sirika, the UAE’s Minister of Aviation, and the Director-General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation.

After suspending Emirates Airlines flights to Nigeria for several months due to concerns about the United Arab Emirates carrier’s requirements in the administration of COVID-19, the Federal Government lifted the embargo on Emirates Airlines flights to Nigeria about a week ago.
