Details emerge over APC Govs' meeting with Adamu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) cautioned its governors against departing from the ideology of the party during a meeting on Wednesday, emphasising that any consequences of such actions would be carried by the state’s chief executives.

At a meeting with the governors at the APC national secretariat, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s national chairman, gave this warning.

Imo’s Hope Uzodinma, Yobe’s Mai Mala Buni, Kogi’s Yahaya Bello, and other governors were there.

As the chief executives of the states, the governors represent the APC and should act in a way that reflects its principles, Adamu pleaded with them to maintain the party’s platform as much as possible.

The APC expects them to have a deep knowledge and appreciation of the difficulties of the population notwithstanding the challenging circumstances, including the contentious lifting of the fuel subsidy.

Additionally, Adamu promised that the party will give the governors its full support and offer guidance on any issues they could face. He did, however, provide a warning, saying, “Whatever you do, do not forget that you will bear your cross.”

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Governor Uzodinma promised the party of their complete support in achieving the goals stated.

He emphasised that the governors of the APC serve as ambassadors for the party’s ideas and initiatives to the general public.

The Progressive Governors Forum, under his leadership, will work closely with the party, emphasizing that their loyalty to the party is absolute.

Uzodinma expressed optimism for the future, stating, “APC is the only party we have got in Nigeria. The governors of APC seem to be the most active governors in Nigeria. So, my assurance is that we are just constructive partners to work with the party.”
