One of Nigeria’s most sought after comedians and On Air Personality, Okeremute Iruvwe famously known as De Don is bereaved as he lost his mother, Deaconess Catherine Iruvwe to the cold hands of death recently.
Late Mrs. Iruvwe was a devoted Christian famous amongst people living in Abraka Community and its environs in Delta State.
The sad incident of her demise occurred on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 following complications from a fall from her bath tub sometime a go.
Announcing her death, De Don wrote on Instagram, “You were the best mother, thank you for raising me and my siblings with good morals and fear of God, Goodnight, #RIP”.
Outline of events heralding Deaconess Catherine Iruvwe’s final journey home released by the family included: Festival of Praise and Service of Songs both at her compound, 4, Ogbiji Lane, Off Umono Road, Abraka, Delta State on Thursday, April 15, followed by funeral service at Abraka Grammar School and interment following immediately on Saturday April 17, 2021.
Late Mrs. Iruvwe was survived by ten children with comedian De Don being her ninth child, they all came together to give their mom a befitting burial.
In reaction to mom’s demise, Comedian De Don who is now resident in Toronto Canada with his family wrote on his birthday in April 15, “So 2moro Thursday, April 15th is my #birthday and my dear late mom’s service of songs, what a mix feeling,
Anyways, my mom had great a life and impacted many, so for us, her children its “Celebration of Life”.
Late Mrs. Iruvwe (nee Emagbeyi) was originally from Abraka but married to late Mr. Amos Iruvwe who hailed from Agbarha-oto both in Delta State. She lived a better part of her life in Abraka her hometown where she incidentally raised children; she died at the age of 77.
