Cynthia Okereke: How Kidnappers Dealt Her Heavy Blow

Nollywood actress, Cynthia Okere is dead, according to reliable information available to ENigeria Newspaper.

Cynthia Okereke is a veteran actress in the Nigeria movie sector and is famously known for her crying roles in several Nollywood movies. The death of the 63-year-old actress was announced by her younger colleague, Joseph Okechukwu who is based in America via his verified Twitter handle in the early hours of Wednesday.

Sharing a photo of the actress, Okechukwu wrote, “REST IN PEACE, Nwanyi oma. I’m shattered beyond words. The fact that I was about to pay for your flight ticket to come to finish what we started only to hear you went to be with Lord just last night is one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to deal with in recent times.

“I pray I’m able to recover from this shock. Life is really just a mist. One minute you have it, the next you don’t. For the more than 20 years that I’ve known you, you’ve been such an amazing, decent and lovely soul to be around.

“I never imagined you’d exit so unceremoniously. Words fail me. Sleep on, Cynthia. May your gentle soul rest on till we meet again in glory.”

Cynthia Okereke Dealt Heavy Blow by Kidnappers in Enugu

Nollywood actress, Cynthia Okereke’s death is coming amid several deaths experienced by the Nigerian movie industry within the last few months.

The actress joined the long list of her colleagues like Saint Obi, Don Brymo, Murphy Afolabi, Femi Ogunrobi (Papa Ajasco), and Chikezie Uwazie among others whose death shook Nigeria to its very roots.

ENigeria Newspaper recalls that Cynthia Okereke was dealt a heavy blow by dare-devil hoodlums who kidnapped her along Enugu 12 months ago, in the company of fellow actor Clemson Cornel, but they were later released unhurt by their abductors days after they were declared missing.

Sources revealed to this newspaper exclusively that the actress who has been nursing some illnesses prior to her ordeal in the hands of kidnappers has not remained the same since she was released.
She was said to be scheduled for medical treatment abroad before she suddenly passed away on Tuesday night.
