Controversy as Lagos King Revokes Traditional Title Given to Igbo Man

The Lagos monarch revoked the title already bestowed on an Igbo man.

Controversy has trailed the decision of a Lagos monarch to revoke the traditional titled bestowed on an Igbo resident.

According to a letter sighted by ENIGERIA, the Oba of Kayetoro Kingdom Ibeju-Lekki, Oba Saka Babatunde Akerele informed Chief Okeke James about the decision to withdraw the traditional title of “Baale Ajoji Okerapa/Military Quarters.”

The monarch explained that the decision waa due to the inflamed polity as the governorship elections beckon.

It reads, “It is with regret that I inform you that your traditional title of BAALE AJOJI OKERAPA/MILITARY QUARTERS in Kayetoro Phase II, has been terminated.

“This termination is effective from this date 27th of February, 2023.

“As discussed in our meeting today 26th February, 2023. This decision is burn out of the recent happening in the political space in our society.

“Please note that you have never been found wanting or under performed.”

However, the monarch clarified that Okeke’s title has been changed to “Asiwaju ‘Ajoji’ Okerapa/Military Quarters of Kayetoro Kingdom.”

“Please kindly return to the palace the original copies of the letter of confirmation of your initial title.

“I wish you the very best in your future endeavour.

“Thank you for your understanding.

“HRM Oba Saka Babatunde Bakare Akerele Ariwajoye 1

“Oba of Kayetoro Kingdom Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.”
