APC counters Atiku over allegations of undermining judiciary

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the just-concluded general elections, has claimed that the implementation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System will destroy the ambitions of dishonest politicians.

The legal mechanism for the accreditation and transmission of election results in Nigeria has become established, he continued.

Atiku announced this in jubilation after the Supreme Court’s confirmation of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory.

In a statement released by his media office, Atiku expressed his congratulations to the people of Osun on their victory and said the use of technology in Nigeria’s election process was a step forward that could not be undone.

He said, “We are all witnesses to the copious references to the BVAS technology in coming up with this judgement.

“The law governing our elections has truly brought power to the people, and those power-mongering politicians who believe that they can freely subvert the inherent power of democracy now have their hopes dashed.”

The PDP presidential candidate urged Nigerians to take a keen interest in the growth and development of democracy in the country, noting that “we must not put the laws in our hands but remain vigilant because, as the saying goes, ‘eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”
