Anamekwe Nwabuoku replaces Idris as Nigeria Accountant General

Anamekwe Nwabuoku is named as replacement for Ahmed Idris the disgraced former Accountant General of the Federation ENigeria Newspaper reports.
The appointment of Anamekwe Nwabuoku was announced in a press statement issued by Yunusa Abdullahi, spokesperson to Zainab Ahmed, the minister of finance.
According to the statement, the federal government approved the appointment of Anamekwe Nwabuoku to oversee the office of the accountant-general of the federation (OAGF).
The appointment of Anamekwe Nwabuoku as Nigeria Accountant General comes amid a probe into allegations of N80 billion fraud leveled against Ahmed Idris, the federation’s accountant-general.
ENigeria Newspaper reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Idris on May 16 after he failed to answer questions about the fraud charges, according to the anti-graft agency.
The accountant-general general was subsequently suspended by the finance minister days after his arrest.
