U-turn: Tinubu endorses Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat for second term

Tinubu endorses governor Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat for second term in what has been described as a last-minute U-turn, ENigeria Newspaper reports.
For days there were speculations from several quarters that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu – the strong man of Lagos politics has dropped the idea of endorsing incumbent governor Sanwo-Olu for second term.
According to insiders within the All Progressives Congress – APC hierarchy, Mustapha Olorunfemi, a former Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Science and Technology was the anointed candidate by Asiwaju.
However, after extensive deliberations within stakeholders together with Tinubu, it was eventually agreed that Sanwo-Olu should be given the second term ticket.
Announcing the development, Gbeyega Akosile, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary wrote on his social media handle, “Asiwaju Tinubu today, officially declared support and endorsed Governor Babajide Sanwoolu-Olu and deputy Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for second term in office”.
Akosile had earlier quoted his principal who stated that his expression of interest form was paid for by Tinubu. He wrote: “Asiwaju Tinubu paid for my second term nomination and expression of interest forms to run for second term, says Sanwo-Olu”.
As Tinubu endorsed Sanwo-Olu publicly, it has finally put to rest the rumour making the rounds for days now.
