Yahaya Bello Revealed As Governor Who Made N60billion Cash Withdrawal From State Coffers

Yahaya Bello

Investigations reveal Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as the governor who made over N60billion cash withdrawal from State coffers, ENigeria Newspaper reports.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had weeks ago accused a serving Nigerian governor of allegedly withdrawing N60 billion from his state’s purse, saying this was done in about six in office.

The anti-graft agency did not reveal the identity of the serving governor but hinted the governor is domiciling in the North Central region of the country.

However, ENigeria Newspaper cited a report on Sahara Reporters revealing that the governor accused of withdrawing N60 billion cash from his state’s purse is Yahaya Bello.

Further investigation by Sahara Reporter confirmed the amount involved to be N78 billion at the end of the special investigation carried out by the EFCC’s newly created Department of Intelligence.

Recall EFCC boss, Abdulrasheed Bawa vowed to go though on fighting corruption within the ambits of the law.

According to him, what distinguished the Commission at inception was strict adherence to the Rule of Law.

“There were no new laws that other law enforcement agencies were not empowered to enforce; the only thing that made EFCC unique is adherence to the rule of law.

”We allow the law to take its cause. Once someone crosses the line, we will do our job with civility and charge them to court to answer for their crime,”
