Warri Council of Chiefs has been sacked by the new Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, according to ENigeria Newspaper.
Following the dissolution of the Council of Chiefs, ENigeria Newspaper has learned that revalidation as Chiefs will begin on Thursday at Ode Itsekiri, the Itsekiri nation’s ancestral home in Warri South local government area.
In a statement, the new Olu of Warri said that revalidation of the various titles would begin on September 2nd (Thursday) “pursuant to Itsekiri custom and tradition regarding the powers conferred on me as the Olu of Warri and by virtue of the provisions of Section 25 of the Delta state traditional rulers council and chiefs law.
“I, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, today proclaim the dissolution of all traditional Councils and committees, as well as the scheduled exercise of revalidation/confirmation of Chieftaincy titles, effective September 2nd, 2021,” he added.
Meanwhile the Olu has been receiving solidarity visits since assuming the throne of his forefathers on Saturday August 21, 2021.
