Defending champions of the Zenith Bank Basketball League, Dolphins, and First Bank are through to the final game of the 2015/16 season. The first semi-final game of the league holding in its 12th season saw Dolphins defeating Customs 74-53 at the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.
Dolphins expectedly led from the first quarter to the buzzer to prove bookmakers right.
The second semi-final of Tuesday night saw former champions First Bank mauling the Police team nicknamed IG Queens 105-22. The one-sided match was far from being like a semi-final match of the 2016 Final-8 playoffs.
The Police team coach, Abraham Ogaba, who featured only eight players, said his team was devastated by injuries but it was not sportsman-like to pull out from the competition unceremoniously.
He said, “We had very serious issues with injures as you could see that we had just eight players. We know that First Bank players are quite experienced and exposed but it could never have been so if we had a full complement of our players.”
The final match would be played on Thursday.
In the classification matches played on Tuesday, Plateau Rocks beat AHIP Queens of Kano 63-56 while Delta Force defeated Benue Princess 59-42.
The All Stars game will be played on Wednesday (today) with a total of 24 ladies listed for action.
